Sawtooth Mountains

Today we spent nearly the entire day hiking in the sawtooth mountains, enjoying the views of Sawtooth Lake (above) and Alpine lake. We first headed directly up to Sawtooth Lake as it was the highest and we wanted to see it first. There were many vistas along the route, but this one below is my favorite.

We decided to trek further up the canyon from Sawtooth Lake for just a little bit to see what was back there, and were greeted with the view below.

That trail heads up into the mountains for a few more miles and we really didn’t have time or desire to add several more miles onto the trip, so we left it at that and headed to Alpine Lake, seen below.

After Alpine Lake, it was a long hike back down, where we went on a scenic drive along the Salmon River that we didn’t get to see on the way up because it was dark. We went for a while and stopped at a site where they had a hot spring bath at one point. The bath house was dismantled, but the hot spring was still there, and indeed quite hot!

After here, we headed back up the road along the Salmon River to our campsite. All in all, a great day with great memories!
