Bradley and Taggart Lakes and Menor’s Ferry

Today was our first day in Grand Teton National Park, as seen here:

We’ve made it to Grand Teton National Park!

But, before we headed into the park, we stopped off in Jackson, Wyoming to acquire some refreshments:

We found Walt Longmire’s Beer!

We started off our visit to this magnificent park by hiking up to Bradley Lake (the featured image of this post), which was one of the most beautiful lakes we’ve seen this trip. As usual with these kinds of lakes, the water was clear, but you can’t beat the Teton Mountains in the background. Here’s the view from the shore, absolutely beautiful!

Next, we hiked back down to Taggart Lake, which we passed on the way up. After seeing Bradley Lake, this Taggart Lake paled in comparison a bit, but it was still beautiful.

After descending from the lakes, we headed to Menor’s Ferry, a historic area where Bill Menor built a ferry to cross the Snake River, the only crossing at the time. I think the gem of this location was the chapel, which has a window framing the Teton mountains in the background. We didn’t get a pic of the chapel some reason, but we did get a pic of the Menor’s Ferry store.

Finally, we headed to Mormon Row, which was pretty neat. Here’s a barn that has been featured in many photos of the Grand Teton Mountain over the decades.

All in all, not a bad start to a visit at Grand Teton National Park, especially considering that we had quite a trek to get there through Teton Pass.
